Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s Secret Garden color collection has been teasing us with its on-counter date for the past month, but we’ve got it on good authority that the duo’s latest batch of Pat McGrath-designed makeup will be online and in Saks stores next week. So, in an effort to share some of our favorite new releases with you before the fashion week frenzy sets in, a quick primer. The first thing you need to know is that the ethereal shade range is inspired by the brand’s Spring runway show, which, as we’ve pointed out before, was one of our favorites. The theme here is youthful glamour interpreted with an array of pretty pastels and a lot of luminescence. The ten-piece line features standouts like two new shades of Ultra-Shine Lipgloss in Secret (a truly awesome opaque coral) and Bon Bon, a shimmering pale violet. A new Smooth Eye Color Duo in Romance is also a makeup bag must-have, pairing a frosty chrome shadow with a complementary shade in matte slate. Then there’s the Illuminator, which McGrath describes as one of the key pieces for creating “barely-there beauty.” A pressed powder with reflective pigments, the compact has a velvety consistency that glides over skin, bringing a touch of light to all the right places while creating uniform tone. And so you know, the answer is yes. Yes, making time to pick one up when you’re headed across town in between Michael Kors and Oscar de la Renta next Wednesday is totally within reason.
