With a baby on the way, I’ve been giving up a lot of things—spicy tuna rolls, merlot with dinner, single-process hair color, skinny jeans. Recently, I’ve added fragrant beauty products to the no-no list; my nose is ultra-sensitive these days. Enter John Masters Organics’ fragrance-free Bare Series. The four-piece collection includes de-scented versions of the coiffing purist’s best-sellers: The Bare Shampoo features organic extracts of chamomile, white tea, and jojoba oil to gently cleanse and fortify hair, while the Bare Detangler pairs botanicals like arnica and calendula with hyaluronic acid to seal in moisture and work out knots. I’m also loving the Bare Body Wash, a foamy cleanser composed of milk thistle, vanilla extract, plus sunflower oil, and the Bare Body Lotion, which is infused with coconut oil, sea kelp, and white tea extracts to soften rough patches (and possibly prevent stretch marks—fingers crossed!). Here’s another bonus: The aroma-free hair formulas reportedly work wonders for color-treated tresses, since certain perfume extracts can strip away oils that keep strands in top shape. I’ve made a mental note of it for when I return to my colorist’s chair in another few months.
